Our year 7s played Earl Mortimer on
Tuesday at THOA and battled back to draw 1-1.
The team took
a while to get into the game, playing into the sun. After missing a few
good chances early on Tenbury gave away a silly free kick that resulted in
them taking the lead; Jack in goal, struggled to see the ball having to
deal with the sun.
THOA had a handful of great chances that
should have been converted: Adam Staples fired over from 12 yards out and Ben
Everall’s shot went inches wide.
The second half was a different game
with Tenbury playing some nice football. Rhys Alex and James made it
exceptionally difficult for their strikers; Oliver and Adam were beginning to
move the ball a lot faster in midfield and looking to get it out wide to Ben
and the relentless Charlie Bawden. Grainsey was also playing well and made some
good passes. Harrison and Matty had a few good chances playing up front but
nothing was testing the keeper.
With 10 minutes left Adam found
himself in a bit of space before shooting; the ball deflected into the path of
Harrison who slotted it home for the equaliser.
THOA were pushing for the winner with
time running out and a few missed chances could have easily found the net.
Overall a draw was a fair result.
Well done year 7s!
