The girls took
part in the Herefordshire Y10 county tournament yesterday at the John Kyrle
high school in Ross on Wye.
After a tough
game and loss (12-2) against Hereford Cathedral School we managed to qualify
for the quarter finals as runners up after beating Whitecross 14-1 and
Aylestone 11-1.
Our quarter
final game was against Lucton, who we beat 6-2. We were through to the semi
final.
We were up
against Hereford Cathedral School in the semi finals. After losing against them
in the preliminaries, we knew it would be an extremely tough game.
After 12
minutes of play, we had held them to a draw 1-1 but played on for golden goal.
After 4 minutes of extra time, and lots of missed opportunities from both
teams, Tenbury scored!
We were through
to the final against Wigmore! Cold weather, fatigue and injuries started to
creep in and Kaitlin Leadbetter came off court with an injury. Still, we were
winning 1-0 for the majority of the game. Unfortunately, despite excellent
play, the final score was 2-1 to Wigmore.
Huge thank you
to Miss Walker for the time she has put in to coaching the girls on a Tuesday
lunchtime. They have made fantastic progress and played the best netball they
have ever played. We are very proud!
Miss
Cartwright
