The games were played in 15 minute halves, which allowed the two teams to play alternative periods whilst the other year group rested.
Our year 9's played the first 15 and found it quite difficult to get going in what proved to be a fast paced opening first half. This was only their second game of the year, however, during the game the whole team made some incredible progress. The players were encouraged to slow the dribbling down and instead look for a pass around the key. This proved to work and the players looked much more comfortable during offence. Their defence also tightened up with them beginning to put pressure on the players in possession of the ball and rebounding any shot. The whole team played exceptionally well but unfortunately lost 28-14. The game was an excellent stepping stone for Fridays (7th Feb) game against Bishops of Hereford.
The year 10's played some incredible basketball and took an early lead during the first 15 minutes. They played the fast break and managed to score a few baskets, catching Leominster out on a number of occasions. The players looked comfortable when on offence and were driving towards the basket setting themselves up with some brilliant lay-ups. Their defence was also really good minimising the opposite teams score to less than 10 points. The final score was 38-7
