Austria Skiing Trip 2016

Austria Skiing Trip 1st- 10th Jan 2016

What an amazing time we have had in Austria over the last week. 40 pupils travelled with us to Saalbach, Austria, for 6 action packed days on the slopes.
Pupils have learnt so much from being on the slopes and every single one of them have made a massive amount of progress.

The young people were also involved in a range of evening entertainment; this included: bingo, quiz, shopping, bowling, watching a local ice hockey practice and we even celebrated 3 birthdays.

Every night, after tea, pupils were fined for silly things that had happened during each day. Their forfeit was to wear the ‘fine wig’ for the remainder of the evening. Some examples of fines included: Kitty, pretending to be a snow plough and clearing 20 metres of snow;  Callum, for throwing snow ball after snow ball; Kit, for losing his skiing helmet and finding it in his room; Holly, for crashing into a piste pole and snapping it into 3 and Will, for spending more time on his back than on his skies.
All the money paid went to good use and was given to the catering staff at the end of the week for a well-earned tip.

All pupils should be extremely proud of their attitude and behaviour as they’ve represented the school in an outstanding manner. Well done to all!

During the trip a massive amount of footage and pictures were captured and can be viewed using the following link. Please feel free to look.

A summary of the trip from some of the pupils:

"We will always remember….
On the 1st January 2016, the Year 10 and Year 11 pupils left home to travel for 26 hours on a coach to Austria.

The night we got there we collected our ski boots and skis ready for the exciting week ahead.  The first day began very early at 7.00 am and finished at 3.30 pm with 40 tired pupils.  After the long day, we ate our dinner which began with soup—yum!

After dinner, the embarrassing fines  award ceremony began hosted by   Tweedledee and Tweedledum (aka Mr Morris and Miss Cartwright)!

The rest of the week was packed full of fun, snow and falls!  It was great to make new friends and form bonds with our instructors.

The final day came around too quickly and we unfortunately had to pack up and leave to head home.

We will always remember the month of January 2016!"
