Last week's results

Well done to the year 11 basketball team who beat Weobley’s year 10/11 team last week (Wednesday 1st Feb)  51-41.

Team:
Max Arwand, Oliver Wallace, James Franklin, Tom Newall, Matthew Jordan, Tyler Evans, Ethan Fish, Jack Jabcynzski, Jordan Morris and Alexi Panagiotakis.

MVP - James Franklin

Also, The year 7 boys' football team won their first game against EMC last week(Tuesday 31st Jan) The result was 2-0.

Thanks to the captain, Adam Lewis, who wrote this match report:

'The game started quite evenly, with THOA and EMC both launching good attacks. THOA lined up defensively, with four at the back whereas EMC went with the usual 3. The turning point of the match came when Mckenzie Bytheway of THOA made a good run down the left wing and got tripped in the penalty box. The penalty was converted well by Jay Griffiths and put THOA 1-0 up.
A few minutes later THOA got a throw-in on the left flank and from it, Adam Lewis lobbed the keeper with a flick on header. For the rest of the first half EMC looked dangerous, close to scoring more than once.

The second half was dominated by THOA, who should've scored at least twice. In the end the game finished as a solid 2-0 for THOA, who will look forward to their next match against Lucton.'

The game was watched by many of the Leicester Riders academy who all attend Charnwood college.

The score finished Charnwood 92 Tenbury 41. However, the score does not reflect the commitment and passion the players demonstrated because it was the team's best performance to date.

R. Huntbach was our MVP scoring 17 points. R. Noble - 4 points
A. Robinson - 2 points
C. Ward - 6 points
T. Ferguson - 2 points

Year 11 Basketball Success

Well done to this year’s Year 11 basketballers for beating Hereford Academy in the final of the Herefordshire league.

What a game it was. Having spent the whole game behind they decided to wait till the 4th quarter to get going. With 10 minutes on the clock Tenbury were 5 points behind; Rory found himself shooting from the line and sinking the one basket to make it a 4 point game. Tenbury then went on to score 4 straight baskets giving them the 24-20 win.
They will now go on to represent Herefordshire in the West Midlands competition.

BBL Final 2016

Yesterday, we went on our annual trip to watch the British basketball league final at The Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham. 12 pupils went to watch last year’s winners, the Newcastle Eagles, take on Leicester Riders.
The Eagles eventually won, fighting back in the final quarter, after trailing most of the game. The final score was 94-82.
The woman’s game before resulted in the Sheffield Hatters dominating the Barking Abbey 79-45.
One of the highlights of the game was Mr Taylor winning the raffle and spending part of the 2nd half courtside. He even got to step on court to claim his prize in front of 9,000 fans. Check MrMorris’s twitter feed on the right to see the footage.
